Film Micrœview #41: Dogtooth (2009)

Dogtooth

Rating: Shrug.

I know this movie draws from some of my faves: Buñuel, Haneke, Von Trier. But I would have rather watched The Exterminating Angel, The Seventh Continent, or like… The Idiots. Nothing about this film pulled me in. Maybe it felt a bit forced. I read some folks thinking it seemed less overtly provocative than these inspirations, but I found the opposite to be true. I would at least like to know why were the parents this way? Maybe I’m not supposed to know. But I need more of a reason not to know.
