Film Micrœview #83: Poison (1991)

Poison

Rating: Good.

As an exercise in style, Poison is successful. It loosely interweaves three different stories, each with a different look and feel; it straddles the fence well between tying them together and leaving them in a disorganized heap. It also rides the line through clarity and mystery well, while the individual styles are each expertly and imaginatively realized. I thought it was particularly beautiful one moment toward the end when the score, while normally different for each thread, bridged one thread to another.
