Film Micrœview #97: Nebraska (2013)

Nebraska

Rating: Good.

Nebraska is genuinely sweet and at times absolutely hilarious.

The mother was a hoot.

I loved how Davey was so like his father, “Stubborn as a mule”, but generous too. Beautiful message.

The portrayal of the Midwest didn’t resort to cliche, ridicule, nostalgia, or sentimentality. No hugs were necessary, they wouldn’t have worked. The polite with the judgment, the gossip with the community support.

“He just believes stuff people tell him.” “That’s too bad.” So sad.
