Film Micrœview #137: The Thing (1982)

The Thing

Rating: Good.

I was freaked out, success. Incredibly disturbing visual effects — outdoes Cronenberg at his own game. Sci-fi + (body) horror + mystery = win. Ending was anticlimactic, but the tension throughout the middle was palpable. Even has a fittingly creepy, pensive Morricone score. I wouldn’t give it a “Dr. Pepper” rating, though, because there’s really not all that much to it — it’s pretty hollow otherwise.
