Film Micrœview #227: Ex Machina (2015)

Rating: Shrug.

Oscar Isaac’s performance is great, and the explanation for AI is unusually interesting and plausible and zeitgeisty here. Unfortunately the other performances can’t hold up and the rest is tedium. Also, pretty much everything was left on the table in terms of the title / history of gods / Isaac’s motives, both in terms of storytelling and sci fi potential. Also the music was super annoying.
