Film Micrœview #244: Akira (1988)

Rating: Dr. Pepper.

This film is a part of my mind-world. It is what I think of when I think of the phrase “captures the imagination.” Technical craft and love for the work are off the charts. Particularly fond of the expressive use of fade out this time around. Every moment of the film is awesome for one reason or another. I get swept up in the amazing narrative arc every time. This film portrays no less than the battle between consciousness and reality, no less than power itself.
