Film Micrœview #260: Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones (2002)

Rating: Bad.

I probably take for granted the glimpse into Coruscant this film gives us, and the awesomeness of a giant battle with tons of lightsaber-wielding Jedi. But there’s only so much boring Obi-Wan investigations, face-palming Padme & Anakin loving across the stars, and cringe-inducing toyetic set pieces one can take.

Lauren points out that Count Dooku would have been a lot better of a character if he did a Lugosi-style Dracula laugh (“ah ah ah ah ah”) after every line. e.g. “It may be difficult to secure your release… ah ah ah ah”; “Twice the pride, double the fall. That’s two! Two falls! Ah ah ah ah”; “Brave, but, foolish, my old Jedi friend. You are impossibly outnumbered. One battle droid, two battle droids, three battle droids, four battle droids, five battle droids”—wait, now I think he’s the Count from Sesame Street.
