Film Micrœview #295: Hard Eight (1996)

Hard Eight

Rating: Shrug.

While it was interesting to experience a less evolved version of PT Anderson’s aesthetic, I cannot get behind this film. The final moment felt way too film-school-y. It felt like half a film. I am fully okay with Anderson leaving a lot of loose ends, but this final moment wasn’t really that – it half-tied the only end it had.

I felt compelled to watch this because I had just completed all of Haneke’s films and noticed that I was one away from completing all of his as well.
