Film Micrœview #314: Creepy (2016)

Rating: Shrug.

So this was basically a cross between Charisma and Cure (former for the botched hostage situation -> reclusive policeman retirement opening; latter for the criminal hypnotism). It certainly posed the question: can a criminal psychologist’s investigation be as cruel as the mind control of the criminal himself? But I don’t feel like the film’s attempts to extend this question into the philosophical realm of the nature of truth and our apprehension of it was nearly as successful as I would say the analogous extension in Charisma into the deeper questions of individualism and collectivism was. Also, the crafts (music, cinematography, editing) just weren’t as solid or inventive here.
