Film Micrœview #353: Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me (1992)

Rating: Good.

I didn’t realize how feminist this film is. How firmly the molestation button is pushed, while firmly defending Laura’s sexuality not as a direct derivative of that, reducing her from a real character down to a meaningless statement. In fact I submit that the great conflict in the story, somewhere through all the creamed corn and mysterious rings, is between patriarchal desperation and female fulfillment.
